Chairs were thrown at Awami League`s `Peace Rally` at National Mosque Baitul Mukarram South Gate. The incident happened in front of the stage today at 1.30 pm.
Eyewitnesses said the rally officially started at 3 pm. But before that, there was a chair throwing incident between the two parties. At this time, the senior leaders of Awami League on the stage requested everyone to calm down. As that did not work, some leaders came down from the stage and restrained both sides.
It is known that the two parties involved in the chaos in the program organized by Dhaka Metropolitan North and South Awami League came from Rupganj of Narayanganj. They came to the rally venue in separate processions. The incident started around sitting on the chair placed in front of the stage.
When chaos occurs, Awami League leaders say, there are CCTV cameras and drone cameras. Action will be taken against those who are trying to create disorder.
The peace rally to protest BNP-Jamaat terror and anarchy started at 3 pm and will continue till 5 pm. Leaders and activists of various affiliates and fraternal organizations of Awami League participated in it. Leaders and activists from surrounding districts including Narayanganj, Gazipur also joined this rally.
